This is the title of an article written back in 1995 by Pat Morley, the author of “The Man in the Mirror”. I found this in the archives of his monthly articles for men and leaders. The full text is here.
He suggests a weekly one hour accountability checkup that consists of a number of questions to pose to each other in an accountability group of 3 to 5 men. The questions center around the spiritual, home, and work life, critical concerns, and prayer.
This is very similar to Neil Cole’s book “Cultivating a Life For God”. He introduces a Life Transformation Group that would consist of 2 or 3 men (or 2 or 3 women) that would meet weekly to ask each other similar questions. Neil adds an agreed upon Bible reading that is discussed also each week.
It is clear that, as Christians, we need accountability partners. Pat Morley says “ The purpose of accountability is nothing less than to each day become more Christ-like in all our ways and be ever more intimate with Him.”
Take a look at this article by Pat Morley and find a fellow Christian (of the same gender) who would agree to meet with you weekly for the purpose of accountability.
